Abstract

Saliva is abundantly delivered within the mouth and saliva collection is a relatively easy procedure. Therefore,
saliva evaluation might be considered as a possible alternative to blood and/or tissue analyses, for researching
specific molecule associated to the presence of systemic diseases, oral diseases and malignancies. Salivary
diagnosis is viewed as a promising modality that can provide an early and accurate diagnosis.Saliva has
several advantages over serum and tissue fragments in its use as a diagnostic tool.
