Abstract

Purpose: To determine oncologic outcomes after laparoscopic complete mesocolic excision (CME) for
colonic cancer in our locality in Minia governate.
Method: The clinical and follow-up data of 40colon cancer patients who were subjected to CME in our
institution from August 2015 and September 2019 were prospectively analyzed.Forty patients were included
in the study minimum follow up period was two years . oncologicoutcomes were evaluated .
Results: The aim of present study is to determine health related quality of life, short term oncologic outcomes
after laparoscopic colectomy for colonic cancer in our locality in Minia governate.
benefits including less intraoperative blood loss, faster postoperative recovery, and shorter hospital stay. There
was no significant difference in the incidence of 30- day postoperative complications, the incidence of major
complications, and the pathological results between the two groups. The intraoperative and postoperative
30-day mortality rates in both groups were 0%. There was no significant difference in the tumor recurrence
rate, 5-year overall survival (OS), and 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) between the two groups.
Conclusion: Oncologic outcomes were good with laparo- scopic CME for colonic cancer and safe in
selected patients .
