Physiological and Biochemical Rationale of Yogasana

Abstract

Yogic exercises have been known to increase mental and physical control of the body. Earlier practices of
yogasan and pranayam have revealed physical and mental well being. Yoga has great therapeutic potential
in management of related diseases stress. It improves the psyche of the individual because training causing
decrease in psychic stimuli to vasomotor and respiratory centre hence there is less increase in sympathetic
activity and less decrease in parasympathetic activity with an optimal blood flow distribution. Greater
amount of fat is utilized for providing energy sparing glycogen.
